My 2 year old daughter sprained her ankle and I couldn’t carry her around everywhere, and I needed her to be independent and go to school. This boot took her a little getting used to because it was a little scary but after a few days she was a pro and nothing stopped her. I had her wear a cowboy boot on the other foot to even it out. Such a great quality walking boot!
My son had to wear one of these for 6 weeks. The first one was destroyed in less than 3 weeks. The rubber on the bottom is basically gone, and the fabric at the front is shredded. I had to buy another one for the remaining 3 weeks because the first one just was not going to last another 3 weeks. I only bought this one because that is the one the doctor told me we had to get. Also, tried to order a medium and they were on back order, so my son had to wear one too small for him the last 3 weeks. Like I said it’s great the first couple weeks, and maybe if you don’t have a very active little one. After that they don’t hold up, or last the total amount of time a typical child would need it!
This product has been a lifesaver. My senior dog (yes dog!) had a failed Achilles’ tendon repair surgery and she is permanently disabled with a “floppy” flat-footed stance. No product exists in the canine market shaped to fit her leg in the L-shape we needed. All the splints for dogs are to straighten their legs - which I learned the hard way, causes complications and pressure sores. This bootie gave her her life back, literally! She doesn’t have to hobble around and we were able to go on (short) walks again. We got the smallest size and it fits her perfectly and doesn’t cause any sores or pressure wounds. (55lb German Shepherd/chow/mutt) We never take it off, except to change the dressing for an open wound she has on the joint of her heel (from the dog splint we first used…ugh). I have bought two of these this year so far and will continue to purchase more as needed. We use the older one for yucky weather and backup when this one needs washing. My only complaint is that the Velcro straps on the interior loose stickiness to the bootie fairly quickly (after less than two months), and we aren’t taking it on and off a lot, but that’s an easy fix with some tape. The traction wears off the bottom too, but that’s not really important. This isn’t meant to be a forever bootie for kids, so of course things will wear over time. Side bar: You all should consider getting into the market for dog splints because it is seriously lacking and so many people and veterinarians have been impressed with my creativity around this! This boot is definitely made for kids vs just being an XS adult that doesn’t fit in all the right places.
